A one-car wreck around 8 p.m. Sunday slowed eastbound traffic for about half an hour on Veterans Memorial Highway between Martha Berry Boulevard and State Mutual Stadium.

Rome Police Capt. Rodney Bailey said the driver of a Pontiac Grand Am, going west on Veterans Memorial, lost control of her vehicle because of a medical condition.

The car crossed over the median and ran into the retaining wall on the bridge over the Oostanaula River. No other vehicles were involved.

Bailey said the driver did not appear to be seriously injured, but she was taken to Floyd Medical Center for treatment.

Traffic was cleared shortly after 8:30 p.m.
