The Georgia Department of Labor will have personnel at Mt. Vernon Mills in Trion taking job applications for the mill Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Applications can be submitted through the mill’s human resources office, 91 Fourth St. in Trion.

According to a news release from the DOL, the company will be recruiting entry-level workers for machine operator and material handler positions, however Mt. Vernon Mills does not have any immediate job vacancies.

Amber Browning, human resources at the plant, said the company simply takes applications every 90 days to help fill any vacancies that might arise in the following 90 days.

Plant Manager Don Henderson said the company does benefit from the quarterly application process.

“We get some people who call and gripe that we’ve lost their application,” Henderson said. “Luckily the DOL has been here and they didn’t have one either. It’s just good to have them be here.”

Applicants must be at least 18 years old. While no manufacturing experience is necessary, applicants are encouraged to have a high school diploma or a General Education Diploma.

For additional information about the recruitment contact Cathy Toles at the LaFayette Career Center at 706-638-5525 or by email to cathy.toles@gdol.ga.gov.
