Task force makes two arrests during traffic stop

Two men were in jail after they were arrested during a traffic stop on Thursday night, July 26, according to a Floyd County Jail report.

According to the report:

Police stopped a car driven by Christopher Clonts Jr., 43, of 281 Hufaker Road, for having no brake lights and because Clonts and his passenger were not wearing a seat belt at the intersection of Second Avenue and Second Street.

Police found methamphetamine in the passenger glove box, according to the report.

The passenger, Clyde Gregory Stevens, 34, of 343 Weathington Road, had a “bag Xanax in his mouth, chewing on them,” according to the report.

Stevens was charged with possession of a schedule two controlled substance, possession of methamphetamine and no seat belt.

Clonts was charged with possession of methamphetamine, no brake lights and a seat belt violation.
