According Sgt. Trixie Morgan of the Rome Police Department:
Steve Kennedy, 61, was charged with felony serious bodily injury to a passenger, as well as misdemeanors DUI, driving with an expired license and failure to maintain lane.
Kennedy, of Rome, was driving a red Chrysler New Yorker inbound on Turner McCall near Kroger when the vehicle suddenly veered onto the sidewalk and struck a tree head-on. The vehicle spun and landed on the embankment. Kennedy was ejected from the vehicle, and the passenger, identified as Tina Michelle Davis, 43, of Rome, was trapped inside.
Both were taken to Floyd Medical Center.
Kennedy remained in ICU at the hospital late Saturday, according to hospital spokesman Bill Fortenberry.
But the hospital had no record of Davis, Fortenberry said. Morgan said Davis had suffered head trauma, and Lt. Jon Black had said Friday night that she was in critical condition.

According to Rome Police Department Officer Glenn Johnson:
Steve Kennedy, 61, of Rome, was driving a red Chrysler New Yorker inbound on Turner McCall near Kroger when the vehicle suddenly veered onto the sidewalk and struck a tree head-on. The vehicle spun and landed on the embankment. Kennedy was ejected from the vehicle, and the female passenger was trapped inside. Emergency workers were able to free the female and both were taken to FMC with unknown injuries.
Lt. Jon Black of the RPD said Kennedy was alert and conscious after the wreck and was admitted to FMC for his injuries. Toxicology tests were sent to the GBI crime lab in Atlanta to determine if Kennedy was under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Black said charges may be pending for Kennedy.
Police had yet to identify the female passenger late Friday night, but Black said she was in critical condition.
