After reeling off a team record 13 straight wins, the first-place Braves suffered a 9-1 loss in Kannapolis — their first defeat since July 22.
The Braves, who came into the day owning a six-game lead in the South Atlantic League’s Southern Division, were out hit 11-2 in the loss and committed three errors.
It was a rare flat performance for the Braves (29-15), who own the league’s best record since the All-Star break.
The 13-game winning streak was the longest in Rome’s 10-year history, surpassing the previous record of 11 straight wins set by the 2004 team.

Final: Intimidators 9, Braves 1

How it happened: The Intimidators scored all of their runs in the first four innings. They scored two in the first, one in the second, two in the third and racked up four in the fourth.
Who did what for Rome: The Braves only had two hits in the game. Chase Anselment homered in the second inning for the Braves’ only run. Elmer Reyes had the other hit.
On the mound: David Filak took the loss, dropping to 5-9 on the season.
Game notes: The loss ended a 13-game winning streak for the Braves. They already broke the franchise record of 11 straight wins, which was set by the 2004 team.
Next Game: The Braves conclude their series against Kannapolis tonight at 7:05 p.m. Following an off day Tuesday, the Braves return to SMS for a four-game series against the Greensboro Grasshoppers.
