GEORGIA’S SALES-TAX HOLIDAY for school supplies, clothing and computer stuff starts today and continues tomorrow. Of course, all the thousands of Floyd and Rome system students are already back in class along with a lot of others around the state. Guess they’re in last year’s duds, begging pencils off the teacher and counting on their fingers instead of calculators.

Both neighboring Alabama and Tennessee already had their back-to-school tax holidays on Aug. 3-5 … and did it for three days instead of Georgia’s two.

This really clever bit of timing determined by legislators is either additional evidence of their having little contact with the real lives of their constituents or … never having gone to school themselves?
