2 charged with drug possession

A Rome man and Alabama woman were charged after they allegedly had a bag of synthetic marijuana after officers pulled them over at the intersection of Alabama Highway and Fosters Mill Road on Friday, according to a Floyd County Jail report.

According to the report:

James Leon Smith, 36, of 33 Althea Drive, was charged with possession of synthetic marijuana, which he was allegedly trying to hide at the time of his arrest.

Dyrisha Renee McKnight, 21, of 280 County Road 472, Centre, was charged with possession of synthetic marijuana and possession of less than ounce of marijuana.

They remained in jail Friday night.
