A Kingston man was ejected from his motorcycle and hospitalized with multiple injuries after he was struck by a car driven by a Rome man at the intersection of Moran Lake Road and Kingston Highway on Saturday at approximately 5 p.m. The driver of the car was also transported to the hospital with unknown injuries.

Michael Howerton, 59, of Kingston, was driving his white Yamaha Classic motorcycle west on Kingston Highway when he was struck on his cycle's right side by the front of a green Chevrolet Cavalier driven by Lester Stone, 20, of Rome. Stone was pulling out from the stop sign at Moran Lake Road and did not see the motorcycle, according to Georgia State Patrol Trooper First Class Donnie Cochran.

Howerton was thrown approximately 25 feet by the collision and came to a rest in the road. His motorcycle was recovered in a ditch near him. Cochran was unable to confirm the extent of the injuries. Both men were transported to Floyd Medical Center.
