The first event in Jay Shell’s new Brewhouse Music and Grill, 325 Broad St., will be a Sept. 15 fundraiser for U.S. Congressman Tom Graves featuring The Mighty Tams. Congressman Phil Gingrey, who has represented Rome in Washington since 2003, and his wife Billie Gingrey, are expected to be special guests at the event.

“It should be a great run-through where we can see what we can do and how we can do it,” Shell said.

He expects to open to the public Tuesday, Sept. 18, at 2 p.m.

“Hopefully we’ll have everything in order by the end of next week to get all of the inspections done,” Shell said Friday afternoon while working on the hardwood floors of his venue.

The restaurant will not be serving lunch on a daily basis but will be open for dinner.

Among the bands Shell already has booked for his Brewhouse Music and Grill are the Velcro Pygmies on Friday, Sept. 21, and Florida Georgia Line, whose song “Cruise” climbed as high as No. 4 on the iTunes country music chart this summer, on Oct. 25. Shell said that he’s got several other bands penciled in but is awaiting confirmation and signed deals before making any announcements.
