The 2009 SPLOST Citizens Advisory Committee will meet on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. in the Riverwalk Ballroom, located on the first floor of The Forum.

This will be the committee’s organizational meeting. Members are expected to set the ground rules for submitting project proposals for funding through an extension of the 2006 special purpose, local option sales tax.

Plans are for the committee to recommend a package by June. The Rome City and Floyd County commissions and the Cave Spring City Council will have the final say.

The package must go before voters in November for the 1-cent collection to continue without a break when the 2006 tax expires July 1, 2010.

Floyd County’s appointees to the advisory committee are David Wright; Bill Davin; Mike Morton; Randy Quick; Allen Shropshire; and Laney Stevenson.

The Cave Spring City Council appointed Rick Lam and the Rome City Commission appointed Larry Atwell; Barbara Beninato; Alvin Jackson Sr.; and Willis Potts.
