The Bartow County Sheriff's Office is asking area residents to keep an eye out for a dangerous fugitive last seen this morning in Bartow County near Red Top Mountain Road, according to the Bartow County Sheriff's Office.

According to Bartow County Sheriff Clark Millsap:

Authorities are looking for 40-year-old Derrick Ramone Walker, of Avondale Estates.

At about 3:30 a.m. Thursday morning, Bartow County 911 received a call for service from Whitfield County 911.

Whitfield County had received a call from Walker who told them he was at the 290 exit having suicidal thoughts. Whitfield County informed BCSO that Walker was currently wanted for numerous offenses by Tunnel Hill Police.

Bartow County Sheriff's Office patrol deputies located Walker in a stolen Saturn Vue but Walker fled.

Walker drove at high speeds and on the wrong side of the interstate before driving onto Red Top Mountain Road and abandoning the car near Waterside subdivision.

Walker got away on foot from deputies. A search did not locate him at the time.

Walker is currently wanted for carjacking, aggravated assault, and theft by taking in Tunnel Hill. He now faces new charges of theft by receiving stolen property, fleeing and attempting to elude, reckless driving, and driving with suspended license in Bartow County.
