A Cave Spring man was in jail on drug charges Wednesday after witnesses said he came close to striking a train and an 18-wheeler on Alabama Highway, according to Floyd County Jail reports.

According to the report:

Brian Keith Wells, 42, of 261 Henson Road, Cave Spring, was seen almost hitting a train on Ga. 20 Wednesday afternoon.

He then got out of his vehicle and apologized to other drivers before continuing to travel down the road.

Wells also nearly collided head-on with a tractor trailer before being stopped by officers.

He had slurred speech and was unsteady on his feet. Officers located a bag of marijuana and a bottle of pills that were not in the original container.

Wells was charged with felony possession of a dangerous drug as well as misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence of drugs, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana and possession of drugs not in their original container.
