A man was treated at Floyd Medical Center on Tuesday afternoon for minor injuries after a trailer struck his vehicle at the intersection of Burnett Ferry Road and Shorter Avenue.

According to Rome police officer Chris Ridling:

Adam Meyers, 44, of Cartersville, was driving a white Ford E-150 van attempting to turn right onto Shorter Avenue as Michael Mullis, 42, of Silver Creek, was driving his burgundy Ford F-250 and pulling a trailer inbound on Shorter Avenue.

Mullis told Ridling that as he crossed the intersection his truck felt lighter. He looked up into his rear view mirror and saw the trailer was detached.

As Meyers was trying to merge onto Shorter Avenue, the trailer crashed into the driver’s side window of his van, causing him to crash into a utility pole on the corner of the intersection.

Meyers was extricated and taken to the Floyd Medical Center emergency room. Ridling said he was mostly uninjured, save for some minor cuts and bruises.

Mullis was not hurt and was cited with prevent fault.
