Man charged with cocaine possession, obstruction

A Rome man remained in jail Thursday night after police charged him with drug possession and disorderly conduct late Wednesday night, according to a Floyd County Jail report.

According to the report:

Demarcus Rayshan Ragland, 27, of Perkins Street, was arrested at the intersection of 13th Street and Hull Avenue for allegedly having a bag of suspected cocaine. Ragland was intoxicated and acting in a violent manner, endangering the safety of those around him. When police tried to arrest him he ran away after being told to stop.

He was charged with a felony count of possession of cocaine and misdemeanors public drunk, disorderly conduct and obstruction. He is being held on $9,200 bond.
