RINGGOLD — The city of Ringgold will kick off Christmas on Friday with its annual “Down Home Christmas” parade and celebration to take place downtown.

The night’s festivities will begin at 6 p.m. with the parade course running down Nashville Street and ending at the historic Ringgold Depot.

Chorus performances from various area groups will take place at the Depot immediately following the parade, along with the opportunity for children to visit and get their picture made with Santa who will be making a pit-stop in Ringgold.

“Kids will be able to see Santa, there will musical entertainment and concessions, and the downtown shops will stay open a little later than usual so that folks can get a jump on their Christmas shopping,” said city manager Dan Wright.

The parade route will pass by Citizen’s Park in the middle of town where the Downtown Development Authority recently placed the city’s new Christmas tree.

Anyone interested in being in the parade can obtain an application from Ron Graham’s office at 706-935-2251.
