Floyd County police were searching late Monday for a male suspect who robbed the Silver Creek Mini Mart that afternoon.

Police searched the area near the store located at 5729 Rockmart Highway after the robbery, which occurred around 2 p.m.

A man described as a white male, thin, between 5 feet 8 inches tall and 5 feet 10 inches tall entered the store on foot.

He pushed past a customer and her son and leaned across the counter with a concealed object, according to Floyd County Police Sgt. Teri Davis.

The suspect asked for money and received an unspecified amount before running out of the store, taking a right and heading toward Craton Road behind the store.

Police called in a tracking dog in hopes of finding the suspect.

Pfc. Richard Penson tracked the direction with a K-9 unit and reported that the subject appeared to have left in a car once he reached the road.

No one was injured in the incident and it is currently under investigation.

Police are reviewing the footage of multiple security cameras that were recording the incident at the time.

The subject was wearing a hoodie and had most of his face concealed.

I don't think people are referring to people who are disabled and can't work. I think people get frustrated with those who take advantage of the system. I have an autistic brother who can not work who receives benefits but I also know a man who could work but sits at home smoking and drinking who receives disability. If you can sit at home get drunk and smoke you can get a job.

@tedb3rd, I think that was a very rude comment to make. Some ppl are not able to work, i recieve all three, phone, check, and housing. Im also Terminally Ill. Im not as Fortunate as others whom can work and do daily activities. Karma will bite you hard for the things you say and do!

There is no point in robbing a business. Just sit on your couch all day long, watch commercials about free phones from the government, and go get the mail with your SSI and/or unemployment check! You get the SAME STOLEN money... just don't have to leave your free housing property to get it. Why risk going to jail when the IRS steal for you?!

Entirely to much???? Ok you need to check your facts Just Sayin. I live near the store and I know Nick very well. In 15 years of ownership, he said the store has not been robbed but twice. So back off until you get the facts straight before you make yourself sound like you were run over by a reindeer drinking to much eggnog.

Well aren't you witty, jlmiddleton74. If you would do research on this instead of attempting to be witty and being ignorant, you would find that they have been robbed more times than that. Try doing an advance search for "Silver Creek Mini Mart".. the search returns more than just two robberies in the past few years. You could also try asking one of the few long time employees. They'll agree. Considering that's where I got my information from initially. Read the facts before listening to what someone says. People lie. Facts don't. Just sayin'.
