Cartersville police have identified the victim of a homicide that they are now saying appears to have been a robbery.

According to Chief Thomas N. Culpepper of the Cartersville Police Department:

Police discovered the victim at the Sun-Glo Car Wash on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive on Sunday night at around 11:08.

When officers arrived, they discovered Randal Statler, Jr., 28, of Cartersville was deceased. He had been shot one time and evidence pointed to a robbery.

Statler had apparently been mudding earlier with family members and had come to the Car Wash to wash the mud off of his pickup truck.

It is unknown how much if any money had been taken. There are no suspects at this time.

“We have had several officers and investigators working on this unfortunate incident throughout the night," Culpepper said in a press release.

The investigation is continuing.
