OPELIKA, Ala. (AP) — The man charged with killing three people at a party in Auburn won't get out of jail anytime soon.

The Opelika-Auburn News reports that a Lee County judge has denied bond for Desmonte Leonard, who is charged with capital murder in the slayings.

People charged with capital crimes typically are held without bond, but Leonard's lawyers went to court seeking his freedom. The judge refused.

The 23-year-old Leonard has pleaded not guilty to killing three people, including two former Auburn University football players. A current Auburn player is among the three people who were hurt when gunfire broke out at a party.

Leonard is being held at the Montgomery County jail.
