Rome-Floyd firefighters responded to a call of a mobile home fire on Alabama Highway west of Oreburg Road.

The first unit on the scene reported at 6:45 p.m. that the home is fully involved but everyone appears to be out of the structure.

UPDATE 7:20 p.m. -- The mobile home is set back off the road, down Harold Drive, which police have temporarily blocked.

Fire trucks are staged in the center lane of Alabama Highway but traffic on the highway is not being disrupted. There is smoke in the area, however, and drivers are being urged to use caution.

The Red Cross has been called in to assist with residents of the mobile home who have been displaced by the fire.

UPDATE 10 p.m.: The residence at 4975 Alabama Highway, Lot C, was destroyed by the fire, according to Troy Brock, battalion chief for the Rome-Floyd Fire Department.

The cause of the fire is undetermined, Brock said.

A woman who was in the home was able to get out safely. Two other people who lived in the home were not there at the time, Brock said.
