A family is without their nephew, husband and father this Christmas after his death in a wreck on Saturday night.

Michael “Shane” Hann, 30, of Abrams Road, died when the 1968 Chevrolet C-10 he was driving crashed into a tree around 9:50 p.m. Saturday, according to Gordy Wright, a Georgia State Patrol spokesman.

The vehicle was northbound on Abrams Road, not far from where Shane lived.

It left the road after rounding a curve, according Wright.

Shane leaves behind a host of family members to grieve their loss this Christmas, including his wife, Cheyenne Hann, and 7-year-old daughter, Lexy.

Pictures provided by the family show a smiling Shane, his wife and the red-haired Lexy.

“He had a smile that was contagious,” said his wife, Cheyenne. “He was a great husband and father, full of life.”

And his red-haired daughter, “she was his life,” Cheyenne said.

Lexy was a lot like her dad, said Shane’s aunt, Tammy Hann.

The two shared his hobbies — riding four-wheelers, swimming and riding dirt bikes.

Tammy Hann helped care for Shane as a child and said he was always respectful.

“He would give you the shirt off his back,” Tammy Hann said. “He loved his family and would do anything for them.”

Funeral arrangements are pending, Tammy Hann said.

Shane was self-employed as a dry-wall hanger at the time of his death.

He had no insurance and the family is struggling with how to pay for the funeral, Tammy Hann said.

As of Sunday night, Shane was one of eight people killed in traffic crashes in Georgia during the holiday weekend — which runs from 6 p.m. Friday through midnight on Tuesday — according to statistics from the GSP. There were 254 crashes resulting in 111 injuries.

Last year, only three people lost their lives in wrecks during the Christmas holiday weekend.
