The church, along with its pastor, Bishop Nealon Guthrie, will begin serving their annual New Year’s Day feast at 11 a.m. today.
The free meal will provide a dinner of turkey, ham, black-eyed peas and collard greens, and traditionally, the first 50 people age 60 or older will receive a coin as a symbol of good luck and prosperity in the New Year.
The church, located at 1321 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., will also have music and guests coming to celebrate the start of 2013 and will look to give away warm clothing for those in need.
Guthrie said they are expecting to have close to 300 people at the feast and welcomes donations from anyone who would like to help.
Anyone who wants to cook something at home can bring a hot dish or dessert as well.
