Floyd County native John Barge, U.S. Rep. Phil Gingrey, R-Marietta, and state Sen. Jeff Mullis of Chickamauga are among Georgia Trend's 100 most influential Georgians.

Greater Rome Chamber of Commerce president and CEO Al Hodge also got a mention, on the list of Notable Georgians.

Henry Ward Beecher must have known a thing or two about influence. He was the subject, after all, of a 2007 Pulitzer Prize-winning biography entitled The Most Famous Man in America.

The individuals on this 15th edition of Georgia Trend’s 100 Most Influential Georgians list, many you’ve heard of and a few you may not know by name, are exerting lots of influence in the worlds they inhabit – business, philanthropy, politics. They are impacting how we live, how we vote, how we buy or how we give.

Indeed Gingrey has influenced Georgia and not for the good of its citizens. His fake tea party mantra and false conservative dogma continue to keep Georgians at the top of the categories you don't want to be in (highest per capita incarceration, lobby dollars, largest number of bank failures, keeping people from adequate and affordable health care, gun sales to other states, teen pregnancies, military contractor waste, low graduation rates) and at the lowest in categories you need to attract businesses and long-term residency (education, careers, infrastructure investment, energy independence, natural resources protection).
