“Selected Paintings 2011 — 2012” includes acrylic paintings and mixed media works on canvas and denim. Scott, who earned a bachelor’s degree in art, created C. & S. Trophy Shop, a Rome-based company that specializes in custom trophies and awards. This event is free and open to the public.
The Arnold Art Gallery at Shorter University will host an exhibit of paintings by artist Bryce Lafferty through Jan. 31.
In addition, Lafferty will present an artist’s lecture at 11 a.m. on Jan. 31 in the gallery.
The exhibit and lecture are open to the public at no charge.
“My paintings investigate themes of isolation and growth. Fish tanks, gardening, bomb shelters, islands, and ‘green’ architectural design inspire them,” Lafferty said.
Lafferty currently serves as assistant professor of painting and drawing at Jacksonville State University. He received the Bachelor of Arts degree in painting from Central Connecticut State University and the Master of Fine Arts degree in drawing and painting from the University of North Texas. His artwork has been exhibited in regional, national and international exhibitions, including locations in Dallas, Texas; Washington, Conn.; and Niigata, Japan. His artwork challenges the traditional boundaries of watercolor, crossing into the disciplines of new media, sculpture, and installation.
The exhibit will be on display at Shorter’s Arnold Gallery through Jan. 31. Admission is free and open to the public.
