Peppin has been using Twinkies for decades to make hundreds of pieces of quirky, satirical artwork featuring what she calls the "ultimate American food icon."
A graphic artist by day for slot-maker International Game Technology, Peppin first was influenced to focus on Twinkies in 1975 by Andy Warhol and his Campbell's soup cans. Her works include watercolor paintings, mixed media, prints and sculptures.
Her "Twinkies in history series" portrays how scientists such as John James Audubon, Charles Darwin and Leonardo da Vinci would have sketched and written about Twinkies in journals or books. Just don't try to serve Peppin a Twinkie. She doesn't like the taste.
