Steven Thornton was still in Floyd Medical Center after he suffered gunshot wounds sometime before 3 a.m. Sunday, according to hospital spokesman Bill Fortenberry. Thornton’s name was not released on the day of the incident, but he was identified Monday.
A Floyd County Police Department press release indicated that officers were dispatched to a Silver Creek address shortly before 3 a.m. in reference to a shooting.
They arrested Janice Charlene Thornton, 59, of 29 Green Valley Road, S.E., Silver Creek, and accused her of shooting the adult male.
No information was available on their relationship, but jail records show Janice Thornton was arrested at 29 Green Valley Road.
She was charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, both felonies under Georgia law. She was still in the Floyd County Jail on Monday, with no bond set on the charges.
