Rome businessman Ricky Singh has leased another former Favorite Market convenience store, which he is converting to a Hi Tech convenience store.

Singh has leased the store on Martha Berry Boulevard at John Davenport Drive from Martin Real Estate.

John Ivester, a broker for Martin Real Estate said that Ricky Singh signed the lease because he has the appropriate certification to get the tax registration in his name and get gasoline quicker. Ivester said that a relative of Singh is expected to actually operate the store.

The store has been empty since May 30, 2011 when Favorite Market did not renew its lease.

Ivester said that Martin Real Estate had to take all of the air conditioning fixtures away from the builder to get it from being stolen.

According to Ivester he expects Singh to open the new store in approximately three weeks.

Singh has not returned phone calls to the Rome News-Tribune.
