Hope and help.

Those are two things that Kirk Cameron feels people are searching for today, especially when it comes to marriage and family.

The television star-turned film actor knows about family life. He’s been married 22 years and he and his wife, Chelsea, have six children.

It’s that first-hand experience, combined with a spirit-led passion for helping others, that brings Cameron to Carrollton on Feb. 10 for the “Love Worth Fighting For” tour.

Cameron, who will share the stage with musical guest Warren Barfield, said that the tour is a marriage-focused event that gets its roots from the movie Fireproof.

Known for his leading role in the Christian film that chronicles a struggling marriage, Cameron said the Love Worth Fighting For tour can be explained as “Fireproof turned into a live three-hour event.”

The Love Worth Fighting For Tour, sponsored by Feed Your Faith at the Carrollton High School auditorium, will take place on Feb. 10 at 4 p.m.

Tickets range from $20 to $35 each and are available as reserved seats or general admission for singles, couples and groups of 10 or more.

“The event focuses on all areas of personal and spiritual relationships and truly seeks to help people in all stages of life,” Cameron said. “I will be sharing personal experiences, Warren will share his experiences, and we will show clips of the movie throughout the night.”

And it’s not just for married couples, he stresses.

“This is for longtime married couples, newlyweds and engaged couples.

“It is for teens who are dating and even teens who aren’t dating but hope to get married some day and want the ability to lay a strong foundation for their future relationship. Everyone will benefit from this event.” Cameron said. “It’s church-group friendly. You’ll laugh until your sides hurt and there are serious moments, too. The worship music is fantastic and all of the teaching is grounded in God’s word.”

Cameron recently completed an inspiring documentary film Monumental: In Search of America’s National Treasure. He is also well known for his roles in ABC’s Growing Pains, the Left Behind movies, and as co-host of The Way of the Master.

Though he’s been successful in acting, Cameron says his true passion is to help people live in freedom and grace, fully devoted to faith in Jesus Christ.

Helping others grow a strong marriage and family is one way that Cameron fulfills that passion.

“People are looking for hope and help when it comes to family. I am passionate about marriage — I’ve been married 22 years and have six kids and I only have one chance to get it right. I don’t want to fail at family. I can fail at other things in life, but that’s my family — the only one I have. I want to get it right and I want to help others.

If we can get family right, then our churches will be healthier. And if we can get our churches healthier, then our communities will get healthier.”
