Miss Smith is a 2005 high honors graduate of Rome High School and a 2009 magna cum laude graduate of the Medical College of Georgia in Athens with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. She is a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority, Sigma Phi Chapter, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, the Georgia Association of Nursing Students and the National Association of Nursing Students. She is currently finishing her practicum in the Adult Intensive Care Unit at St. Mary’s Health Care Systems in Athens and has served as an extern at Northside Hospital in Atlanta.
The bride-elect is the sister of Michael Gregory Smith of Rome. She is the granddaughter of Jane E. Lambert of Rome, Raymond Eugene Smith of Centre, Ala., Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Wesley Turner (Bettie Trotter) of Cave Spring, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Joseph Hancock Jr. of Summerville and the late George Nathan (Jack) Lambert. She is the great-granddaughter of Ruth Coffey Trotter of Rome.
Hoyt is a 2004 high honors graduate of Darlington School and a 2008 magna cum laude graduate of the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in risk management and insurance. He was a member of Chi Phi Fraternity, Gamma Iota Sigma Honors Insurance Society, The Insurance Society, Golden Key Honors Society and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. He was named the 2007 IRU Intern of the Year for his work with Axis Reinsurance Company and PartnerRE US during the summer of 2007. He is employed with Aon Risk Services in Atlanta with Aon’s Financial Services Group.
The groom-elect is the brother of Nathan Barnette Hoyt Jr. of Rome and Ana Christian Hoyt of Atlanta. He is the grandson of Eleanor Hoyt of Rome, the late Wade Cothran Hoyt Jr. and the late D.C. and Sybil Toles.
The wedding ceremony is planned for Saturday, Sept. 9, 2009, at Morris Chapel at Darlington School in Rome.
