The Shorter softball team now knows who it will be facing for the first round of the NAIA tourney.

The Berry baseball team, however, will have to wait a few more days for that same information.

Shorter’s Lady Hawks learned on Wednesday that they will face Morningside College next Thursday at 2 p.m. in the opening round of NAIA event in Decatur, Ala.

The Lady Hawks will be in pool grouping which includes Lubbock Christian University, Asbury College and Morningside College.

The Berry baseball team, meanwhile, will find out on Friday who it will be facing in the opening round of next week’s NAIA tournament, which the Vikings are hosting. Berry is one of nine sites to be hosting first-round games.

Shorter’s softball team received an automatic bid to the national event after posting a 6-2 victory over Lee University on Sunday to capture the Southern States Athletic Conference tournament title.

Berry’s baseball team won the SSAC regular-season crown for the first time, and the Vikings finished as the runners-up in the SSAC tourney.
