Sloppy Floyd Park to mark Fishing Week

To celebrate National Fishing Week, June 6-13, James H. “Sloppy” Floyd State Park near Summerville is hosting special events for kids and seniors.

A Children’s Fishing Rodeo will be Saturday, June 6, from 9 a.m. until noon. Children 15 and younger can bring their own fishing gear to catch a limit of five catfish from a stocked lake.

Adults ages 65 and older can participate in a Senior Citizen Fishing Rodeo 9 a.m. until noon Saturday, June 13. Participants should bring their own bait and can compete to bring in the largest catfish.
