Greater Rome golfers shine in junior tourneys

A total of seven players from Greater Rome earned top-5 finishes on Tuesday during a junior golf event at the Chimney’s Course in Winder.

Rockmart’s Griffin Garrett finished second in the boys’ 15-18 age division by carding a 79, and was followed by Rockmart’s Jordan Atkins, who finished fourth with an 86. Rockmart’s Brady Garrett (90) took fifth.

In the 18-hole boys Club division, Seth McCullough of Rome was fourth with an 86, and in the 13-14 Open division, Jacob Reeves of Trion carded an 85 to earn third.

In the tourney’s 9-hole event, Will Mathis, of Rome, finished second with a 46 and Grant Moss, also from Rome, was third with a 51.

On Monday, Brantley Wilson of Rome carded a 93 and finished fifth in the 12-and-under age group at the Oak Mountain Championship junior event in Carrollton.
