Kudos to Hair Story Salon on Broad Street! Following the lead of a salon in Athens, Holly Moore and crew are offering free haircuts to those unemployed who are actively seeking employment. This thoughtful event, Job Fair for Your Hair, will be from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on July 12. Those interested will have to contact the salon: 706-235-0072 or on their website at hairstorysalon.com.

I have been job-hunting for months, the market is tough and competition fierce, and there’s been no money for a lot of things, much less a haircut. Yet that is one thing that is so important to your appearance when applying or interviewing for a job.

There are signs all over town about keeping local jobs and supporting the local economy. This is one business putting its money and talent where its mouth is, and really trying to help locals. I hope other individuals and businesses will follow this lead.
