Escobar named N.L. Player of the Week

Atlanta Braves shortstop Yunel Escobar was named the National League Player of the Week on Monday after recording eight RBIs in the four games following the All-Star break.

The 26-year-old from Cuba went 7-for-14 in the series against the New York Mets with two home runs, three doubles and 16 total bases to help the Braves win three out of four in the series.
