The Rome-Floyd YMCA closed today and will remain closed until 8 a.m. Dec. 27 as part of an ongoing renovation project.

During that time, workers will lay flooring in high traffic areas, and the pool will be drained to replace its drain system. The glass block wall at the back of the pool also will be replaced.

The construction is being funded through a $2.5 million “YMCA Building for Tomorrow” campaign.

YMCA officials said they chose to close this week because it is traditionally the slowest week of the year
