After all the success Rome High’s girls soccer team has enjoyed over the years, this season could possibly be its best ever.

Coach Steve Davis’ Rome Lady Wolves improved their overall record to 13-0 with a 1-0 Region 7-AAAA triumph at Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe Thursday.

Once again, Jessie Williamson came through when the Lady Wolves (6-0 in region play) needed her most.

The senior, who signed to play next year at Berry College, scored on a penalty kick with 30 seconds left in the game.

Williamson was tripped inside the scoring box, which led to her penalty kick.

L-FO had tried a penalty kick in the first half after a Lady Wolves player was called for a handball.

However, Rome goalie Amanda Allgood dove headfirst to her right to make the save, one of two for the game.

“It just was one of those days where nothing was going in for us,” said Davis, noting his team outshot L-FO 32-6.

After taking next week off for spring break, the Lady Wolves return to action on April 17 by hosting Walker at 5 p.m.
