Dale and Diane Scoggins of Summerville announce the engagement of their daughter Shelley Denise Scoggins to Adam Nathaniel Hawkins, son of Leslie and Jeannie Hawkins of Armuchee.

Miss Scoggins is a 1999 graduate of Armuchee High School. She attends Coosa Valley Technical College in the ultrasound technician program. She is employed at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

The bride-elect is the sister of Todd Barnes of Chattanooga, Tenn. and Mike Scoggins of Rome. She is the granddaughter of Ray and Katherine McWhorter of Trion and the late Howard and Christine Scoggins.

Hawkins is a 1993 graduate of Armuchee High School. He will graduate from Coosa Valley Technical College in April with a radiology technician degree. He is employed at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

The groom-elect is the brother of Blain Hawkins and Cain Hawkins, both of Rome. He is the grandson of Yvonne Hawkins of Calhoun and the late Grace Owens.

The wedding is planned for 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, at Subligna Baptist Church
