A Rome man has been charged with murder for the death of his roommate, who died Friday night, authorities said.

Ernest Junior Ferguson, 48, of 302 E. 20th St., suffered internal injuries to his head when his roommate, George Allen Mostiller, 41, allegedly hit him with a chair Tuesday night, Rome police said.

Ferguson, who was taken to Floyd Medical Center for treatment after the incident, died three days later. After the Friday night death of his roommate, Mostiller was charged with murder, a Floyd County Jail spokesman said today.

Mostiller also was charged with aggravated battery and aggravated assault in the case.

Mostiller was being held in jail without bail this afternoon.

The victim’s body will be taken to the state crime lab in Atlanta, where an autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death
