The Rome Braves dropped an 8-1 decision to the Savannah Sand Gnats on Wednesday night at State Mutual Stadium in the completion of a game that had been suspended by rain Tuesday.

The Gnats finished with nine hits, including a grand slam by Reggie Fitzpatrick during Savannah's five-run fifth inning.

Rome starter Mike Mueller (0-1) took the loss, allowing three runs on six hits in four innings.

Steven Doetsch drove in Rome's lone run with an RBI single in the fourth.

The teams were scheduled to play a seven-inning after the completion of the suspended game, but rain has delayed the start of the contest
