“The Story of Hansel and Gretel” will take the stage at the Rome City Auditorium at 7 p.m. on Nov. 12. The musical play will be presented by 39 young people, ages 6 to 15, who are students of Sherrie Bacon, director of Creative Playhouse Children’s Theatre Company.

“This is not at all a scary version of ‘Hansel and Gretel,’” explains Bacon, “and our witch is particularly hilarious.”

Sarah Cait Hubbard plays Gretel; Jonathan Tierney plays Hansel; Laine Smith plays the gingerbread witch; Zachary Gardner plays the father; Kelsey Fletcher plays the mother; and Alexis Stevenson is Lydia, the gypsy.

Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for children and students. They may be purchased at the door or in advance from parents or cast members.
