Sommer Lynn Davis of Rome and Paul Anthony Splendore of Perry, Iowa, were married at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, 2004, at Second Avenue United Methodist Church.

The bride is the daughter of John W. and Teri M. Davis of Rome. The groom is the son of John A. Splendore and Diane Harpster, both of Perry, Iowa.

Judge Tami Colston performed the ceremony before a pair of candelabras decorated with white sweetheart roses, Sprengeri ferns, leather leaf greenery and baby’s breath, and a unity candle placed in the narthex. The family pews were marked with white sweetheart roses and Sprengeri ferns.

A program of wedding music was provided by Marvin Williams of Rockmart. Selections Included “Give Us This Day,” “One In A Million,” “Canon in D,” “Traditional Wedding March” and “The Lord’s Prayer.”

Amy Nails of Rome was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Nicole Rogers of Cartersville, Lauren Spinks, Melissa Clark, Lee Price, sister of the bride, and Macey Price, niece of the bride, all of Rome. Attendants wore purple iridescent taffeta two-piece halter-top ensembles with beaded trim and chiffon skirts. They carried bouquets of white roses with baby’s breath.

Flower girls were Morgan Dolph of Perry, Iowa, and Bailey Bolton of Rome. They wore white satin dresses with white tulle skirts.

The bride, given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, wore a strapless modified A-line Georgette gown. The strapless bodice draped to one side and was adorned with pearl and sequin designs. She wore a matching elbow-length veil edged with satin cord and a matching pearl necklace and earrings given to her by her paternal grandmother, Ercel Blair. She carried a bouquet of white sweetheart roses, baby’s breath, Sprengeri fern and leather leaf greenery wrapped in a blue silk Italian lace handkerchief given to her by her maternal grandmother, Frances Milam, who received the handkerchief during World War II.

Josh Mentz of Perry, Iowa, was best man. Groomsmen were Jim Hulgan, Sean Welch and Danny Splendore, all of Perry, Iowa, and Michael Dumas of Rome. Luke Dolph of Perry, Iowa, was ring bearer.

The mother of the bride wore a silver crepe formal-length, three-piece ensemble with beads and iridescents adorning the jacket and top. The mother of the groom wore a three-piece wool crepe ensemble in a mystic purple embellished with beadwork on the jacket. Both mothers wore corsages of white roses.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at The Forum. Refreshments included the bride’s four-tier white on white basket-weave design cake with the third and fourth tiers separated with columns. It was adorned with fresh roses and greenery. The groom’s cake was decorated in matching basket weave and adorned with fresh flowers and greenery. Servers were Linda Jones, Cheryl Bray, Susan Moore and Kay Page, all of Rome, and Virginia Thurman of Birmingham, Ala. Bartenders were Sandy Peace and Heather Cargile of Rome.

The evening before the wedding, a rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom’s parents at Waterfront Grill in Rome.

Other prenuptial parties included a miscellaneous shower hosted by Linda Jones, Kay Page, Cheryl Bray, Carol Wade, Susan Moore, Delona Daffron, Jane Brown and Jessica Beard at The Prickly Pear and a miscellaneous shower hosted by Amy Nails, Nancy Helton and Cissy Cooper of Rome at The Rome/Floyd Law Enforcement Center.

Following a wedding trip to Gatlinburg, Tenn., the couple resides in Rome, prior to moving to Perry, Iowa
