Joy Lanier Cash and Joshua Devin Burke, both of Rome, were married at 6 p.m. Saturday, June 18, 2005, at Vann’s Valley Baptist Church.

The bride is the daughter of Noel and Debra Cash of Rome. She is the granddaughter of the late Troy and Bessie Towe.

The groom is the son of Charles and Karen Burke of Rome. He is the grandson of John Henry and Barbara Burke of Armuchee, Julia Thomas of Rome and the late Rev. Franklin Thomas.

The Rev. Floyd Battles Jr. of Rome performed the double-ring ceremony before an altar adorned with greenery grown by the father of the bride.

Brandi Cash of Rome, sister of the bride, was bridesmaid.

The bride chose an ivory A-line halter-top gown with embossed flowers edged in creme silk stitching. The gown was adorned with satin buttons from the bodice to the end of the train. She wore a light champagne double-layer veil adorned with crystals and flowers to match the earrings. She carried a hand-tied bouquet of summer flowers made by Allison Worley, cousin of the groom.

Charles Stover of Rome was groomsman.

The mother of the bride wore an ankle-length plum dress with a rose corsage to match. The mother of the groom wore a knee-length champagne chiffon dress with printed floral accents.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church fellowship hall. Refreshments included the bride’s three-tier cream icing cake decorated with floral accents which sat atop a purple fountain. The groom’s three-layer chocolate and strawberry cake was made by the groom’s aunt.

Out of town guests included family and friends from surrounding counties and Tennessee.

The evening before the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Fuddrucker’s in Rome.

Other pre-nuptial parties included a shower hosted by Roxanne Mullinax and Erica Greeson. An after wedding shower is also planned.

Following a wedding trip to Cancun, Mexico, the couple resides in Rome
