ATHENS — The University of Georgia posted its best fund-raising year ever in the fiscal year that ended June 30, the university announced Thursday.

The fund-raising total of $96.9 million was up 25 percent from the year before, despite a well-publicized battle for control of the school’s fund-raising foundation. The state Board of Regents ordered the school to sever ties with the private UGA Foundation by July 19.

The turmoil from a two-year dispute about school President Michael Adams — state officials have stuck by him, even though some big donors have called for his ouster — did not hurt donations
