Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Tant of Rome announce the engagement of their daughter Elizabeth Tant to Timothy Barton Jr., son of Anita Swanson of Cave Spring and the late Timothy Barton Sr.

The bride-elect is a 2003 graduate of Coosa High School. She attends Georgia Highlands College and is pursuing a pshychology degree. She is employed by Northwest Georgia Tax Services.

Miss Tant is the sister of Amber Jackson of Rome. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Tant of Rome, the late Glenda Fuqua and the late Frank Townsell.

The groom-elect is a 2004 graduate of Coosa High School. He is employed by the U.S. Navy and is stationed in Gulfport, Miss.

Barton is the brother of Tabitha Swanson of Cave Spring. He is the grandson of Marshall Barton of Rome, Carol Clark of Rome, the late Ivagene Barton and Farrell Swanson Sr. of Armuchee.

The wedding is planned for Saturday, Jan. 14, 2006, at Riverside Baptist Church. Invitations will be sent
