Miss Burns is a 1996 graduate of Oconee County High School. She graduated in 2001 from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science degree in health and physical education and in 2003 with a Master of Education degree in physical education and sports studies. She is employed by the Forsyth County Board of Education.
The bride-elect is the sister of Ansley Burns, Brennen Burns and Kimberly Burns, all of Bishop. She is the granddaughter of Lois Burns of LaGrange, the late Malcom V. Burns Sr., Gene Jackson-Gillespie of St. Simons and the late Jesse Jackson.
Nix is a 1999 graduate of Armuchee High School. He is a 2004 magna cum laude graduate of the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science degree in turf grass management and crop science. He is employed by Campus Outreach at the University of Georgia.
The groom-elect is the brother of Austin Nix of Rome. He is the grandson of Charles and Geneel Nix of Mableton and the late Hobert and Edith Turner.
The wedding is planned for Saturday, April 29, 2006, at Watkinsville First Baptist Church in Watkinsville. A reception at Westminster Christian Academy Gym will follow the ceremony. Family and friends are invited to attend, and invitations will be sent
