A two-car wreck that sent a Rome woman to the hospital closed down traffic in the eastbound lanes of Shorter Avenue for about 45 minutes on Tuesday.

According to Floyd County police officer Mary Catherine Chewning:

The wreck occurred at about 2:55 p.m. near 2555 Shorter Ave. when a gray Chevrolet pickup truck traveling east on Shorter Avenue was struck on the driver’s side by a maroon Ford van driven by Robert Terrell Smith, 26, of 366 N. Avery Road, as he turned left onto Roman Court.

The driver of the truck, Tabitha Lynn Guillory, 27, of a Black’s Bluff Road address, was treated and released from Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Smith was cited for failure to yield in connection with the collision.
