A Rome man was arrested at gunpoint by city police Wednesday on drug and obstruction charges, reports said.

According to Rome police and jail records:

Brandon Rashard Thomas, 24, of 400 Calhoun Ave., was charged with felony obstruction of law enforcement, possession of crack cocaine, possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, along with misdemeanor possession of medication not in its original container and loitering.

Thomas was spotted walking with an unidentified female by Rome police at about 1 a.m. on the lot of the Watters Street Recycling Center. When police stopped to investigate, Thomas fled, but was later wrestled to the ground by an officer. Thomas escaped but dropped a .380 caliber pistol and a bottle containing several pills and suspected crack cocaine in the struggle. The officer then drew his gun and Thomas surrendered.

Bail was set at $48,050.
