A local nursing home owner presented a plan in Floyd County Superior Court today to rectify sewage problems at the Moran Lake Road facility.

Appearing before Judge Walter Matthews, the county health department had sought an injunction to stop an overflowing septic system that was releasing “human waste and other sewage” onto nearby property.

Owner George Houser, on behalf of Moran Lake convalescence home, presented an abatement plan that will solve the problem over a period of time, according to Floyd County’s attorney Andy Garner.

Cecil Blair, environmental health manager for Floyd County, confirmed to the court that the plan could work.

Over the next six months the court will monitor the upgrade and improvement to the system while any grievance, from either side, will be brought before the court.
