Shorter College to host Renaissance art lectur | Latest Headline

Renaissance art scholar Dr. Heidi J. Hornik will present a lecture at 11 a.m. on Tuesday in Shorter College’s Austin Moses Room. The event is part of the biennial Whitworth-Muldrow lecture series. The public is invited to attend at no charge.

Dr. Hornik, professor of Italian Renaissance and Baroque art history at Baylor University, will discuss Michele Tosini (1503-1577) as a Florentine, Renaissance artist and religious iconographer.

Dr. Hornik’s work on this subject, "Michele Tosini: The Ghirlandaio Workshop in Cinquecent Florence," will be published by Sussex Academic Press in 2009. She has contributed to the works I"lluminating Luke: The Infancy Narrative of Christ in Italian" as well as "Interpreting Christian Art," both with Mikeal C. Parsons. She is also the author of "Renaissance Painting," published by Trinity Press International in 2003.
