Floyd County police arrested a Cave Spring man Monday on charges he faced off against police after taking a gun and crashing a car, reports stated.

According to Floyd County police and jail records:

Ronald Mark Casey, 34, of 405 Duke Drive, was charged with felony possession of a firearm, and misdemeanor simple assault and disorderly conduct.

Casey allegedly broke into a gun safe at his residence early Monday and took a .357-caliber gun, claiming an attempt was being made on his life then leaving in his vehicle. Casey crashed in his vehicle on the 1600 block of Chubb Road. At the crash scene, he confronted police with a baseball bat, prompting officers to use a taser on him. The gun was not located.

Bail was set at $4,850 for Casey, who was also held on a probation hold Monday night.
