Dear Readers,

The Rome News-Tribune is Greater Rome’s most comprehensive source of news. And the community newspaper has some big news of its own.

Beginning today, we’ll start removing our 1968 press that has for almost four decades printed tens of millions of copies of newspapers distributed in Northwest Georgia.

In its place will be a new $2.35 million press — a state-of-the-art Dauphin Graphic Machines press that will take our printing process from the mechanical to the digital age.

But progress takes a little time and for at least the next two months the Rome News-Tribune will be printed at another newspaper in the region while our new press is installed.

That means earlier deadlines for our print edition so that we can get the newspaper printed and delivered to subscribers and news stands at the regular early-morning times.

That does not, however, mean that our coverage of local news will end early. We will continue covering local news late into the night as usual and will be posting Braves scores and other late news on our Web site — www.romenews-tribune.com.

We’ll follow up in print the next day on issues that need more coverage.

So you’ll still have both our print and online editions to keep you informed about what’s happening in our community.

And soon you’ll have a newspaper filled with cleaner print and more vibrant color photos and advertising.
